Watkins also played for Kansas City Chiefs.
The St. Louis Rams drafted Watkins in the fifth round. Watkins, a rookie, reported that he was overweight and in poor shape at camp and was kept out of practice the first few days. In 2012, Watkins played in the Detroit season opener before being placed in injured reserve. Watkins was released on July 24, 2013 after reporting to training camp as overweight for the second consecutive year.
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Watkins on August 3, 2013. Watkins was released July 28, 2014.

He redshirted in 2009 after transferring from Georgia Military College.
