In 2004, and 2005, he played on loan for the Sounders. He scored 8 goals and four assists in 27 games to help the team reach the A-League title in 2004. In the 2005 USL First Division USL-1 playoffs, he scored four goals for Sounders. He scored three goals to lead Seattle past the Portland Timbers. His stoppage time goal was also the winner, as Seattle defeated the Montreal Impact 2-1. The 2005 Championship was won by Seattle. After Levesque had played just one game with their first team, the Earthquakes placed Levesque under waivers on November 16, 2005.
On January 28, 2010 he was ranked 19th in the USL First Division Top 25 of the Decade, which announced a list of the best and most influential players of the previous decade. Levesque has become a Sounders fan favorite for his work rate, length of service with the club, his wit, and clever goal celebrations. His last game was Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in an exhibition match against Chelsea F.C.
After a lengthy trial for most of early 2009, Levesque was signed by the expansion MLS franchise Seattle Sounders FC in March 2009. He was used primarily as a reserve player, occasionally appearing as a substitute or a starting player in games of lesser importance. He scored a goal against the Portland Timbers in the 2009 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, as well as the winning goal against D.C. United in the Open Cup Final. He also scored the winning goal in the 89th minute against D.C. United a year later in 2010 MLS league play. In June 2011, Levesque scored 2 goals in the Sounders’ 4-2 win against the New York Red Bulls, including his famous “scuba goal” celebration. On July 16, 2011 he scored another goal against the Colorado Rapids.
The San Jose Earthquakes selected Levesque 23rd in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft. His rookie season was cut short when he hurt his ACL while playing with the US under-23 national soccer team in Portugal. On July 12, 2003, he made his MLS debut as a substitute for the Colorado Rapids in a 2-0 home defeat. After the August 2003 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup defeat to the Earthquakes, he was loaned out to the Seattle Sounders. He made his Sounders debut against the Portland Timbers days later. He played nine matches for Sounders, scoring two goals and then returning to the Earthquakes on Sept 24 to make two more appearances.

Levesque was born in Portland, Maine. He led Falmouth High School, Falmouth, Maine to the 1997 and 1996 Maine state championships. He was named the Maine Sunday Telegram’s state player of year in 1998. He holds the record for most goals in Maine history with 106 goals scored over four years at Falmouth. Levesque was also a great basketball player. He was twice named Maine’s Class-C player of the Year by the Lewiston Sun Journal and led Falmouth to two state titles in 1997 and 1998. Roger was also a member of Maine Coast United, leading them to three state titles and earning interest by the national under-23 team.
From 1999 to 2002, Levesque was a college soccer player at Stanford University. After playing two seasons as a reserve, Levesque was promoted to the starting line-up as a junior and finished the season as a second-team All- American. He had scored 14 goals and 9 assist. He was named third-team All- American in his senior year, leading the team with 7 goals and 13 assists. In the NCAA Final, Stanford was defeated by UCLA.
In February 2006, Levesque signed a year-long deal to return to Seattle Sounders. He scored two goals and three assists during the regular season and led the team in minutes played. In 2007, he was named second team All-League. At the end of the season, he served as a guest player in two exhibition games with USL-1 teams, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers, against MLS teams.
