Chapman won in May 2012 the Senior PGA Championship. This was his maiden win on the Champions Tour. He held a lead of five strokes entering the final round and won by two over American John Cook. In July 2012, he won his second senior major at the U.S. Senior Open. He beat Fred Funk, Bernhard Langer and Tom Lehman by two strokes. He won the MCB Tour Championship – Seychelles on European Senior Tour in December 2018. He beat Phillip Price by scoring an eagle 3, at the first hole of a sudden death playoff. To tie Chapman and Price, Tom Lehman had to reach the last hole with a par-5. Miguel Angel Martin won 8 and 6 respectively.

In late 1981, Chapman became a professional and was awarded a European Tour card upon his first visit to Qualifying School. He was ranked in the top 100 of the European Order of Merit 19 times out of 21 years. His best ranking was 17th in 1988. He was joint runner up behind Sam Torrance at the Spanish Open in 1982, his first season. He won the 2000 Brazil Rio de Janeiro 500 Years Open, his 472nd tour debut. He won the 1988 Zimbabwe Open on Safari and the Hassan II Golf Trophy, Morocco in 2000. He represented England at the 2000 Alfred Dunhill Cup.
