Rodney Blackshear, born July 25, 1969, is an ex-arena football wide receiver who was formerly a member of the Arena Football League. Blackshear played college football for Texas Tech University.

Blackshear started his coaching career in 2002 as a student assistant. After being hired as a coach at Texas Tech, Blackshear was promoted to the position of offensive coordinator at Harvest Christian High School, Fort Worth. After serving as the Rio Grande Valley Dorados’ offensive coordinator, he was appointed to the Houston Cougars’ WR Coach. After becoming the Centex Barracudas’ head coach in 2006, he led the Lubbock Renegades from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, he coached the South Georgia Wildcats with an 11-5 record. After Gerald Dockery, the head coach of the South Georgia Wildcats, was fired in April 2010, Blackshear took over as the IFL coach for the Abilene Riders. His team record was 0-5. Blackshear was the team’s first coach. In November 2010, Blackshear was appointed head coach of Amarillo Venom, an IFL team. In January 2012, he was appointed head coach of Mesquite Bandits of Lone Star Football League. However, the team disbanded at the end the month without playing one game.

Blackshear was inducted into the Texas Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.

Blackshear, a member of AFL Champions Grand Rapids Rampage 2001, was inducted into Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
