Rodney Allison, born January 29, 1956, is an American ex-college football player and coach. He is currently the director for the Double T Varsity Club, a Texas Tech letterman’s club.
In 1979, Texas Tech hired Allison as a graduate assistant. Allison was promoted to running-backs coach in 1980, a position that he would continue to hold at many schools. Steve Sloan, Allison’s former Texas Tech coach, hired him as the Duke running backs coach.
In 2003 Sloan, then the athletic director at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, hired Allison as the head coach of the Chattanooga Mocs.
He was inducted into the Texas Tech Athletic Hall of Honor in 2003.
After graduating from Texas Tech in 1977, Allison was not selected by the National Football League (NFL). However, he went on to play for one year with the Toronto Argonauts (CFL) after his graduation. He ran for 49 yards in 13 of his 15 regular season games with the Argonauts during 1978.

From 1975 to 1977, Allison was the Texas Tech quarterback. He was a part of three bowl appearances with the Red Raiders during his tenure: the 1974 Peach Bowl and 1976 Bluebonnet Bowl.
After leading the Red Raiders’ to a 10-1 record in the regular season and sharing the Southwest Conference title with Houston, he was awarded the MVP award by the Southwest Conference.
Allison coached at various positions at Southern Miss from 1988 to 1992. From 1993 to 1997, he was the running backs coach at Auburn, and took on the additional role of offensive coordinator during the 1998 season. From 1999 to 2003, he served as defensive ends coach for Clemson.
