Robin Turner is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on September 10, 1955 in Carlisle, England, United Kingdom. Robin David Turner, an English former professional footballer, was born 10 September 1955. He played as a forward. He was an England youth international and began his career at Ipswich Town. He made his debut with the first team in October 1975, after he was part of the 1973 FA Youth Cup winning squad. He was a regular at the club, even though he failed to make it into the first team. However, he continued his service until 1985, when he signed with Swansea City. His home debut at his new club saw him score twice, which equals the number of league goals he had scored in nine seasons with Ipswich. However, he left the club later in the year to go back to East Anglia, when he signed to Colchester United. He joined Bury Town in non-League soccer at the end of 1985-86.
Turner, despite missing out on the FA Cup appearance at Wembley, was named as a substitute in the 1978 Charity Shield match at Wembley. He played for Trevor Whymark’s Ipswich team as they lost 5-0 to Nottingham Forest. Turner didn’t make another appearance in the first-team during the 1978-1979 season, as Alan Brazil came into the side. He made his European debut in 1978-79, playing in and scoring a goal against Skeid Oslo. He played as a substitute at Portman Road in the return leg. In September and October 1979, he also participated in seven league matches and a friendly against New Zealand. He was a German player in Escape to Victory, which he filmed with Ipswich colleagues in 1980.
After failing to make a first-team appearance during the first half of the 1982–83 season, Turner joined Dutch second division club MVV Maastricht on loan in January 1983, before returning to Ipswich in April; during his time in Maastricht he played 13 matches, scoring two goals. Upon returning to Ipswich he scored his first-ever league goal in a home match against Sunderland on 23 April as Ipswich won 4–1, making five league appearances, all as substitute, by the end of the season. The 1983–84 season saw Turner score a second league goal in his first league appearance on 6 September as Ipswich beat Everton 3–0 at Portman Road. However, despite playing nine more first-team games that season, he failed to score again. His final match for Ipswich was on 14 April 1984, a 2–2 draw with Nottingham Forest at Portman Road, and he did not make a first-team appearance for the club during the 1984–85 season.
At the time of Turner’s signing, Colchester were managed by Cyril Lea, who had been assistant to Bobby Robson at Ipswich during Turner’s time at the club. Turner made his Colchester debut on 8 November 1985 in a 1–0 defeat at home to Rochdale. He signed for the club permanently in December, but failed to score in fourteen league and cup appearances. His final match for Colchester was a 2–2 draw with Burnley on 6 May 1986, after which he left the club, later signing for Eastern Counties League club Bury Town.
Turner’s most productive season at Ipswich was 1977-1978. Due to an injury crisis, Turner played in 14 league matches. However, it was the FA Cup that he made the most impact. Ipswich was drawn against Second Division Bristol Rovers, in the fifth round. The game was played on a snowy pitch. Turner scored the Ipswich’s first goal in the first period to give them the lead. He then scored the equalizer four minutes before the match ended. The teams were drawn 2-2. Turner was also a part of the replay, which Ipswich won by 3-0. Also, Ipswich beat Millwall in the quarter-finals. He was part of the West Brom team that beat West Brom 3-1, but he was not in the squad for final. Robson brought David Geddis in to the team to counter the threat from Sammy Nelson. Mick Lambert was the only substitute. Turner, along with Geddis, Kevin Beattie, was awarded the Freedom of the City of Carlisle after the final.

In 1973, he was part of the team that won in 1973 the FA Youth Cup against Bristol City. Turner played alongside George Burley and Tommy Parkin. The third goal came in a 3-0 win at Portman Road. Town then won the trophy with a draw of 1-1 in the second leg. In 15 matches, he scored nine goals for the reserve team. He even scored against Norwich City in his debut match. He was selected for the England youth soccer team because of his record at Ipswich.
Turner signed a professional contract in April 1973. He was a regular member of the reserve team for the next two seasons. Turner scored six goals in 19 matches 1973-74 and 14 in 27 games 1974-75. In a 1-0 defeat at Derby County in the First Division, Turner made his debut with the team on October 4, 1975. But that was his only appearance on the team for the season. Turner was substituted in a 5-2 loss at Aston Villa and made his second appearance in Football League. He then started the League Cup game against Brighton & Hove Albion, which Town lost 2-1. He was able to keep his place in the following two games but did not play again until the 90-minute match against Manchester United on January 3, 1977.
The 1980–81 season saw Ipswich competing for the league title, the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup. Turner made three appearances in November, before playing in two matches towards the end of the season as an increasingly patched-up Ipswich team missed out on the league and FA Cup, but won the UEFA Cup. In the following season Turner played only four matches, starting just one game away at Middlesbrough. He had been transfer listed during the season, but a proposed loan move to Preston North End failed to materialise.
