Roberto Soriano is one of the most popular and richest Italian footballer who was born on February 8, 1991 in Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany. Roberto Soriano, Italian pronunciation: [ro’berto so’rja:no]; born 8 February 1991 in Bologna) is a professional footballer from Italy. He plays as a middlefielder for Bologna’s national team and Bologna. He is Elia’s younger brother.

He was loaned to Empoli’s Serie B side in June 2010. Soriano made his club debut against Reggiana on 15 August 2010. During the second period, Soriano was replaced by Gianluca Mucci. Empoli won that match 4-1. Empoli’s first Serie B match saw him as a holding/defensive midfielder. He was joined by Davide Moro in that match. In the 66th minute, he was replaced by Mirko Valdifiori. Frosinone won that match 1-1. Empoli was left with this draw. Empoli won the away match, however, 3-2. Soriano was on the bench for the next match and lost his starting position to Gianluca Mucci. In Empoli’s fifth Serie B match, Soriano was back in the starting XI. He played as a defensive/central midfielder in the 5th game. This position would be used in the 2 subsequent rounds (4-2 formation and 4-3-2-1-2 formation). He scored his first Serie B goal against Portogruaro on 11 December.

On 31 August 2015, Soriano signed a contract with Napoli worth €13.5m with Juan Camilo Zúñiga set to join Sampdoria as part of the deal, but the transfer fell through because Napoli did not deposit the contract with Lega Serie A before the 23:00 deadline. It is believed the delay was mainly due to disputes about image rights.

On 2 August 2016, Spanish club Villarreal CF and Sampdoria reached an agreement for the transfer of Soriano. He signed a five-year contract, for a reported fee of €14 million. Soriano made his club debut in a 1–1 away draw against Granada in La Liga, on 20 August.

Soriano, an unnamed fee, moved to Sampdoria in Italy on February 2, 2009. Soriano was immediately admitted to Sampdoria’s Primavera (or youth team) for the 2009 Torneo di Viareggio. The Genoa-based club came in as runners up. Sampdoria lost in the semi-finals of the Campionato Nazionale Primavera 2009-10, where Soriano was a member.
