Robert de Pinho de Souza is one of the most popular and richest Brazilian footballer who was born on February 27, 1981 in Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil. Robert de Pinho de Souza, also known simply as Robert, was born 27 February 1981. He plays as a striker for Portuguesa.

Robert signed on 22 August 2007 for the Saudi Arabian football team Al- Ittihad. Mexican media reported that Robert was transferred to CF Monterrey in Mexico on 4 December 2007. He was paired up with Humberto “El Chupete”, a Chilean football player, and was formerly of club Colo Colo.

In July 2009, Robert joined Palmeiras and in the Série A he scored 5 goals in 12 matches coming as a substitute in all of them. In 2009, he played a good role as a substitute in the league becoming an important player in the squad. In 2010 Robert remained with Palmeiras and became the key striker in the team. On 21 February 2010, he scored two headed goals against Paulista rival São Paulo and Palmeiras won the match by 2–0; it was a great appearance for Robert after he had been criticised in the beginning of the Campeonato Paulista, where he scored already 5 goals. On 14 March 2010, Robert completed perfect hat-trick against Santos and Palmeiras won the match by 4–3; this game was marked by the different type of commemoration after goals. By the end of this game, Robert came to be known as “Blade do Palestra”. The nickname refers to the great actor Wesley Snipes, that played Blade, the vampire-hunter, that in fact is a vampire and also a Robert look-alike.

On 16 January 2011, Robert joined South Korean K-League side Jeju United.

Robert was loaned from PSV to Real Betis, where he arrived during the 2006 January transfer window. His signing was crucial in Betis’ efforts to avoid relegation. He scored 7 La Liga goals including 2 against Villarreal in El Madrigal, and a winning penalty against bitter rivals Sevilla FC, in a win at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, a 2-1 victory. Robert also scored a UEFA Cup goal against AZ alkmaar. Robert was the top goal scorer for Betis in the second season after Ricardo Oliveira’s injury. However, his second season was less successful (he managed only 9 league goals in 29 games) and he left Real Betis in the summer 2007. This happened despite Betis having removed the option to purchase Robert from PSV for EUR3.25million on April 4 (effective 1 July). Robert refused to sign any contract and the transfer was canceled. As a free agent, he joined Al-Ittihad. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled Betis had to still pay EUR1,562,500 compensation to PSV, despite the transfer’s collapse.
