He is an American offroad racer and owner of Jimco Racing. Pierce races a Jimco Trophy Truck at the SCORE International desert racing series. He also raced a Pro2 Unlimited truck in Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series LOORRS.

He raced a modified ProTruck, dubbed “Prophy”, Truck, for two races. His performance was remarkable considering his horsepower disadvantages. He raced his first race in the current No. 30 Jimco Trophy Truck, in which he placed 5th overall, was his first race. He finished second in the Terrible’s SCORE Primm300 in 2010, his best finish. He was sixth in SCORE Trophy Truck Season points in 2009, and fourth in SCORE Trophy Truck Season points in 2010. In 2010, he was also named SCORE Person-of-the Year.

In addition to desert racing, Pierce also began racing short course in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) halfway through the 2009 season. He went directly into the premier Pro2 Unlimited class in a Johnny Kaiser-built Alpha truck previously raced by Jerry Whelchel for Chet Huffman Motorsports. Despite not racing a full season and a horrific crash at Glen Helen in 2010 that left Pierce with two broken collarbones and a couple of broken ribs, he still finished 15th overall for the season.

Pierce used the skills he learned in Idaho to perform welding jobs for his small business. Although he was most known for his work in the aerospace industry, MasterCraft became his first customer in 1985. MasterCraft founder Jack Miller sought Pierce’s welding skills to make the company’s tubular seats frames. Peri Miller’s daughter purchased MasterCraft in 1999 from Pierce. Pierce then focused on making MasterCraft a world-class safety organization, adding racing seat harnesses and window safety nets to the company.

Pierce didn’t start desert racing until 2004. Instead, he devoted all his energy to his growing business. He was the co-driver of the Class 10 car driven by Tom Ridings at the 2004 Tecate SCORE Baja 500. His first race as driver of record was 2005’s Best In The Desert TSCO Vegas-Reno race. Pierce was a fast learner, finishing 11th overall and fifth within his class. He finished second in his class at the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 in 2006. After only three races in ProTruck Pierce was promoted to the Trophy Truck class. This class is the highest level of off-road racing.

In 2008, MasterCraft Safety purchased Ryan Safety, expanding their product line of suspension seats, restraints, limit straps, and window nets to include race suits. In 2010 the company expanded even further, acquiring Impact Products from Bill Simpson. The addition of Impact allowed MasterCraft Safety to offer a complete suite of safety products including helmets, fire-resistant gloves, and race shoes. This move helped accelerate Pierce’s vision of offering a full suite of safety products from one manufacturer, head to toe. Bolstered by Pierce’s business acumen, all of the brands under the Impact Racing corporate umbrella capitalized on constant product development, enhanced technology and immersive marketing to grow sales and industry influence to record levels. Pierce sold Impact and MasterCraft to Italian safety giant Sparco in June 2017.
