Robert Edward Grossman, born September 16, 1989, is an American professional baseball catcher for the Oakland Athletics (MLB). Grossman, who grew up in Texas, was drafted in 2008 by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Grossman made his MLB debut in 2013 with the Houston Astros and then spent three seasons with Minnesota Twins.

Kevin Goldstein, of Baseball Prospectus, ranked Grossman as the number 76 best prospect in baseball prior to the 2012 season. Grossman was invited to spring training by the Pirates in 2012. Grossman was traded to the Houston Astros by the Pirates on July 24, 2012. Rudy Owens, Colton Cain and Wandy Rodriguez were also traded. Grossman was a Class AA player for Pittsburgh’s Altoona Curve, an Eastern League affiliate, and Houston’s Corpus Christi Hooks, a Texas League Class AA team. He hit.266 with 10 runs in 131 games.

Grossman played in 103 games for the Astros in 2014, hitting for a .233 batting average, six home runs and 37 runs batted in (RBI).

After spending much of the 2015 season in the minors, he was released by the Astros after the 2015 season.
