Rock drummer and guitarist who was a founding member of the psychedelic band, The Brian Jonestown Massacre. He has made guest musician appearances with many rock acts, including The Wild Swans, Mellow Drunk, and The Black Ryder.
He established a band called The Imajinary Friends, which featured the talents of guitarist Matt Hollywood.
In 2001 Maymi toured North America with Sonic Boom’s Peter Kember#Spectrum as guitarist.
Maymi recorded and performed with the San Francisco-based rock band Mellow Drunk featuring Leigh Gregory from 2001 to 2009 and is a founding member of the neo-psychedelic/surrealist rock band The Imajinary Friends, which he continues to work with today. The lineup of The Imajinary Friends spawned from the initial lineup of The BJM. The band currently includes Travis Threlkel (of Tipsy, and formerly of the BJM) and Tim Digulla (of Tipsy). Past members include Matt Hollywood (of the BJM, The Out Crowd, and The Rebel Drones) and Graham Bonnar (of Swervedriver and the BJM). Maymi has also performed and recorded in Los Angeles band Smallstone with former BJM alumni Jeff Davies and Mara Keagle.
