Richie Woodhall, a former professional boxer from Britain, was born 17 April 1968. He competed in the WBC super-middleweight title. From 1998 to 1999, he held the WBC supermiddleweight title. He also held the Commonwealth middleweight title (1992-1995) and the European middleweight (1996). Woodhall was an amateur and won a bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Both were in the light- middleweight category.

This fight saw Woodhall lose twice: once in the first round and twice in the third. Woodhall rallied in the final fight to close to stopping Beyer but his recovery was too late.
