Trupp received the Stanley Picker Fellowship in Sculpture from The Stanley Picker Gallery, Kingston upon Thames, in 2001. Trupp received the Stanley Picker Fellowship and was also shortlisted for The Stanley Picker Gallery’s inaugural national Jerwood Sculpture Prize. This prize saw Trupp exhibit in Edinburgh, Birmingham, and London.

Trupp was born in Wolverhampton and grew up in Birmingham. Trupp was awarded the Fletcher Award in Creative Ability and Excellence while in secondary school. He then received a distinction at Sutton Coldfield College of Further Education in 1993 for Foundation Studies in Art and Design. Trupp completed a BA Fine Art degree at Nottingham Trent University (1994-1997) and was awarded a distinction at Wimbledon School of Art in 1998 for MA Site Specific Sculpture.
Trupp worked as an assistant to Sir Anthony Caro for a year in 1999. Trupp was under Caro’s guidance and worked on projects like the Millennium Bridge in London, as well as sculptures for National Gallery’s ‘Encounters’ exhibition. Trupp’s MA exhibition, titled ‘Fixing Blocks’, was held at Royal British Society of Sculptors 2000. He was granted full membership to Royal British Society of Sculptors. Trupp was appointed Artist in Residence at Metal West Hampstead in 2002. Trupp also began work at Arch Bronze in Putney, London, the same year. He worked here on bronze sculptures made by Marc Quinn, Gavin Turk and Eduardo Paolozzi.
Whilst creating innovative and bold sculpture, Trupp’s work is equally ‘grounded in a deep respect for the history of sculpture and a curiosity about the myths that have grown up around it.’
