Richard Stika is one of the most popular and richest Catholic Priest who was born on July 4, 1957 in St. Louis, United States. Richard Stika was the third child of Frank and Helen (nee Musielak), Stika. His father was Czech and his mother Polish. He is the third of four children and has three brothers: Robert, Lawrence, and Joseph. He was baptized in St. Francis de Sales Church, July 21, 1957. He also attended Epiphany of Our Lord school in South St. Louis.

Stika served as Archdiocese of St. Louis chancellor from 1994 to 2004. He was also the Archbishop Justin Francis Rigali’s private secretary (1994-1997), master of ceremonies (1997-2004) and vicar general (1997-2004). He was also a member of The College of Consultors (1997-2009). He was elevated to the rank honorary prelate in June 1995 and coordinated Pope John Paul II’s 1999 visit to St. Louis.

Stika suffers from type 1 diabetes and uses an insulin pump. He underwent cardiac bypass surgery in 2004, suffered a minor heart attack in 2009, and had an angioplasty in 2018.

On January 12, 2009, Stika was appointed Bishop of Knoxville by Pope Benedict XVI. He received his episcopal consecration on the following March 19 from Cardinal Justin Rigali, with Archbishop Joseph Edward Kurtz and Bishop Robert Joseph Shaheen serving as co-consecrators, at the Knoxville Convention Center. He selected as his episcopal motto: Iesu Confido In Te (“Jesus, I Trust in You”). As Bishop, he serves as the spiritual leader of nearly 60,000 Catholics in East Tennessee.

Stika was a student at St. Augustine Minor Seminary High School. This was a boarding school for boys located in Holland, Michigan. He then entered Bishop DuBourg High School in St. Louis in 1975, where he graduated in 1975. After graduating from St. Louis University in 1979 with a Bachelor in Science in Business, he continued his studies at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in 1985, where he earned a Bachelor in Philosophy in 1981 and a Masters of Divinity. He was ordained a deacon by Cardinal John Carberry on May 1, 1985.
