After meeting Dean Thomas, Hinckley United manager, Sneekes decided to retire. This was after he met Sneekes at the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. Sneekes began his training with Conference North, but he decided to sign for them. His debut was delayed due to International Clearance, which he was seeking after his last game in Denmark. In September 2007, he made his debut with Hinckley in their 4-2 FA Cup victory over Grantham Town. Sneekes was eventually released in October 2007 after only three games. Hinckley United had a terrible start in the league. Sneekes said that he was not enjoying the sport and that it made it too difficult to continue his retirement.

On Monday 27 September 2010, it was revealed in local newspapers that Richard Sneekes had signed for Dudley Town, who play in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division. Richard Sneekes’ son, Giorgio also signed for the club in the 2010/2011 season. Richard made his debut in Dudley’s 2–2 draw at Shifnal Town on 5 October 2010.

At 11:15am, 4 July 2011, Sneekes was announced as a First Team Coach at League Two Hereford United, in order to fill the gap left by Dave Kevan who left for Stoke City. It is said that he will look encourage “nice attractive football”. He will leave the club once his contract runs out at the end of June.

In September 2001, he moved to Stockport County as a free transfer. He stayed there for only two months before moving to Hull City. He also left the club after that move didn’t go according to plan. After spending a further year with Herfolge BK in Denmark, he retired from professional football at 34.

This was arguably what saved Albion from being relegated. Sneekes was at West Brom for seven seasons before being finally transferred at the beginning of the 2001-02 season. Sneekes retired in 2007 and he continued to be the West Bromwich Albion captain in the Midlands Masters ‘Masters’. He was a winner in both the 2008 and 2011 tournaments.
