Knopper left Vitesse manager Aad De Mos after some issues and he joined ADO Den Haag. A three-year contract was signed in July 2007. Knopper netted again in double figures (10) in 2008-09 which was crucial for a narrow escape from relegation. He was 33 when he was released in the 2010 summer.
Knopper was a participant in a trial with Sunderland Premier League team in May 2002. He also played in the match for Niall Quinn against the Republic of Ireland on April 14th. He served two loans between 2002 and 2004, first with Aris Thessaloniki FC. He then joined SC Heerenveen and slightly revived his career there. After his release from Ajax in summer 2004, he spent two more campaigns with Vitesse Arnhem. He appeared regularly.

Knopper was born in Rijswijk and began his career at Feyenoord. He then moved to AFC Ajax in his youth. His official debut came in November 1997 against Sparta Rotterdam. He was elected by club supporters Most Talented Player in 1999 and received the Marco van Basten trophy. The following year, he scored 15 Eredivisie goals, but his team couldn’t finish higher than fifth.
Knopper was a regular player under Jan Wouters. His playing time decreased when Co Adriaanse became head coach in 2000. Knopper was injured for nearly the entire season. He played only eight matches in that year, and he would not play again until the following season.
In January 2011, Knopper moved to Liga Primer Indonesia club PSM Makassar, leaving after a couple of months and signing with lowly Haaglandia back in his country, where he ended his career.
