Bomar started all 10 games in 2008 for Sam Houston State as the Bearkats went 4–6 on the season. He was a two-time All-Southland Conference selection and ended the 2008 season ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision total offense (354.2 yards per game) and No. 4 in passing offense (335.5 yards per contest).
