He also participated in two collegiate all star games. He graduated with a degree from sociology and was drafted in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1996. He played three years at linebacker. A knee injury ended his career.
Farmer was the former general manager of the Cleveland Browns. Before his current position with the Browns he was the director of pro personnel at the Kansas City Chiefs (2006 to 2012) and an Atlanta Falcons scout (2002 to 2006). He was previously the academic coordinator at Duke University for football in 2001 and worked in television and radio between 1998 and 2000.
