Rashid Meer is one of the most popular and richest Poet who was born on June 1, 1950 in Kheda, Gujarat, India. Rashid Meer (Gujarati: rshiid miir. b. 1. Juni 1950) is a Gujarati Gujarati Language Ghazal Poet, Critic, Editor, and Researcher.
Dhabak is the Gujarati ghazal poetry journal. He was its founder editor. He earned his Ph.D. Some of his most notable works are Saat Suka Pandada (1993), Ghazal Nu Pariprekshya (95), Thes (1998), and Adhakhula Dhwar(99). He was awarded the Shayda Award by Mumbai’s Indian National Theater for his contribution to Gujarati Ghazal Poetry.
His first ghazal book, Thes, was published by Chitkaar (1987), Saat Uka Pandada (1993), Khali hathno Vaibhav (1996), AdhakhulaDhwar (1999), Rubaru (2002, and Laapata Ni Shodh (2010).

Meer began his teaching career at M.E.H Girls’ High School in Vadodara. His writing career began in 1968, with the help of Ghalib and Faiz Moradabadi, Jigar Moradabadi, Kalidasa, and Jigar Moradabadi. His ghazal was published in Jay Jay’s Gujarati magazine that year. He is the administrator of Muslim Educational Society Vadodara. On Tuesdays, he writes column Gulchhadi for Gujarat Samachar. In 1991, he was the founder editor of Gujarati Ghazal Poetry Journal Dhabak.
Meer was born in Thasara in Padal of Kheda, in the village of Thasara to Kamaluddin Meer & Halima Meer. In 1968, he completed his S.S.C at Sharada Mandir High School in Menpura. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1973 from Arts and Commerce College in Balasinor and a Master’s degree in 1975 at C.B Patel Arts College in Nadiad. His subject was Gujarati literature. He received his B.Ed from Faculty of Education at M.S University in 1980 and his Ph.D. for his dissertation Gujarati Ghazal N Saundarya Mimansa.
