Ranee Brylinski is one of the most popular and richest Mathematician who was born on January 28, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Ranee Kathryn (nee Gupta) is an American mathematician best known for her work in representation theory, and quantum logic gates. She was formerly a professor at Pennsylvania State University in mathematics. In 2003, she founded Brylinski Research, a mathematical consulting firm with Jean-Luc Brylinski.
Brylinski, together with Goong Chen is the editor of Mathematics of Quantum Computation (Chapman & Hall/CRC 2002). She is also the editor of Lie Theory and Geometry in Honor of Bertram Kostant (Springer 1994) and Advances in Geometry 1999 (Springer 1999).
In 1990, Brylinski was awarded a Sloan Research Fellowship. For her work in quantization of algebraic group, she was awarded the G. de B. Robinson Award [de] by the Canadian Mathematical Society in 1998.

Brylinski was raised in Detroit, Michigan. In 1977 she graduated from Princeton University. She then completed her Ph.D. in 1981 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Steven Kleiman supervised her dissertation, Abelian Algebras and Joint Orbits.
After a year spent at MIT as a NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Fellow, she was appointed Tamarkin Assistant Professor in Mathematics at Brown University in 1982. In 1991, she moved from Brown University to Pennsylvania State University. She was the co-director of Pennsylvania State’s Center for Geometry and Mathematical Physics.
The Brylinski–Kostant filtration of weight spaces is named after her. She originally developed this filtration in 1989, motivated by earlier work of Bertram Kostant. She is also known for Brylinski’s theorem, a theorem from her dissertation on the closures of orbits of algebraic groups.
