Keisler was signed as a free agent by the San Diego Padres in February 2003. He made two starts for the Padres while also playing in eight games (6 starts) with the AAA Portland Beavers. He was released by the Padres on June 5, 2003.

Keisler signed as a free agent with the New York Mets on February 17, 2004 and played the 2004 season with the AAA Norfolk Tides. He was 6-7 with a 3.81 ERA in 21 starts for the Tides.

He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals on November 16, 2006 but only made 4 appearances with the Cardinals, 3 of which were starts he finished 0-0 with a 5.19 ERA. He also made 24 starts for the AAA Memphis Redbirds and was 8-11 with a 4.79 ERA for the Redbirds.

On June 16, 2003, he signed as a Texas Rangers free agent and played in five games (2 starts) with the AAA Oklahoma RedHawks. He was then released on July 14. He was assigned to AAA New Orleans by the Houston Astros three days later. Before becoming a free agent at season’s end, he made nine starts with a 2.28 ERA.

The New York Yankees drafted Keisler in the 2nd round 1998 MLB Draft from LSU. Keisler had been previously drafted by the Cleveland Indians, in the 40th and 57th rounds of 1995 MLB Drafts respectively. He was also drafted by the New York Yankees in Round 2 of 1998 MLB Draft out of LSU. On June 2, 1998, he signed with the Yankees. In 2000, he was the Yankees Minor League Player of the Year. He was a 14-5 player with a 2.85 ERA and 28 starts for AAA Columbus and Double-A Norwich.

Keisler made his Major League debut on September 10, 2000 with the Yankees against the Boston Red Sox. He started and pitched five innings, earning the win. In 2000, he was in three more Yankees games as a bullpen pitcher and he then pitched in ten of their 2001 games. He was 2-2 in his two seasons of part time work with a 7.19 ERA. After undergoing shoulder surgery in late 2001, he missed the 2002 season. Keisler was already in rehab for the shoulder injury and sustained a bizarre injury in May 2002. Keisler was gardening when he was bitten in the back by a pygmy snake. In February 2003, the Yankees released Keisler.

He signed with the Cincinnati Reds as a free agent on November 12, 2004 and began the season with the AAA Louisville Bats where he was 5-2 in 12 appearances (7 starts) for a 2.88 ERA. He returned to the Majors on May 24 and made 24 appearances for the Reds in 2005, including 4 starts for a 2-1 record and 6.27 ERA.
