Rajeev Nayyar is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on March 28, 1968 in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, India. Nayyar was born in Chamba on 28 March 1968. At 18 years old, he made his debut in the first class for his home state Himachal Pradesh at the 1986-87 Ranji Trophy. This was one year after his state received BCCI accreditation. Nayyar, a right-handed middle-order batsman who also served as the team’s captain in many matches, represented Himachal Pradesh for twenty seasons. He played in 96 first-class matches, scoring 6,881 runs at an average of 45. There were also 20 hundreds. In 1988, he scored the first 100 runs by a Himachal Pradesh cricketer and steered the team to victory in the Ranji Trophy match in 1990. He was also a part-time leg spin bowler, taking 39 wickets, including two five-wicket grabs. He was also the first Himachal Pradesh bowler ever to take seven wickets in an innings.
Nayyar won his last match of first-class in January 2006. He announced his retirement in December 2008.
Nayyar rose to prominence in November 1999 when he set the record for longest first-class cricket innings. He batted for 1,015 mins in his 271-run innings against Jammu & Kashmir in a match of 1999-00 Ranji Trophy at his Chamba home. This broke the previous record of 970 by Pakistan’s Hanif Mohammad during a Test against West Indies in 1958. Captain of Himachal Pradesh, Nayyar began his innings with the loss of his first wicket in the 11th Over of the second day. At the end of day two, he was at 89 and was still batting at 170 on day three. He became the first Himachal Pradesh batsman to score a first class double hundred on the fourth and final days of play. Nayyar’s innings is the only instance where a batsman has lasted more than 1000 minutes in a first- class innings.

Rajeev Nayyar, born 28 March 1968, is an ex-Indian first-class cricketer who played in Himachal Pradesh. He set the 1999 record for longest first-class innings by batting for 1,015 min (16 hours and 55 minute) in a Ranji Trophy game against Jammu.
Nayyar won the 1995-96 Ranji Trophy with three consecutive hundreds. He was also selected for the North Zone team. In 1996, he played for India A against the South African touring team. He played for North Zone in 1999-2000 Duleep Trophy. His scores were 118 against South Zone, and 88 against Central Zone in semifinal. The final was against West Zone.
Nayyar has an MBA degree from the National University of Shimla. After his playing career, he worked as director at the Swami Devidayal College in Panchkula. As of October 2016, he works as a selector for the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.
