Mumo played for UC between 1989 and 1995. They reached the Copa Libertadores final against Sao Paulo in 1993. He won the 1991 Copa Chile, as well as Liguilla Pre-Libertadores in Chile (Chile), 1992, and 1994. The latter scored a fantastic goal against Colo-Colo.
Tupper suffered from clinical depression, which led him to commit suicide by jumping from a hotel roof on 20 July 1995 in San José, Costa Rica, being only 26 years old. Católica was supposed to play a friendly match against Deportivo Saprissa, but the game was subsequently suspended.
He was called up to the Chilean U-20 National Team in 1987. They won fourth place at the 1987 U-20 World Cup in Chile. Lukas Tudor, his great friend, was also there.

He was born into a family with five children, four male and one female. He attended the St. Ignatius El Bosque and enrolled in the lower divisions at Universidad Catolica. His first coach was Alberto Fouillioux, a former player for the national team.
In 1985, he made his debut in the first team against Cobresal in El Salvador. He won the 1987 national title with Universidad Catolica.
In 1989 Tupper joined Diego Portales University to study Engineering, which he did not finish. That year he won the Liguilla Pre-Libertadores (Chile) against Cobreloa, which enabled Católica to play in the Copa Libertadores.
