Rahmat Effendi is one of the most popular and richest Indonesian Politician who was born on February 3, 1964 in Bekasi, Indonesia. Effendi was one of six children born in Bekasi, February 3, 1964. After graduating high school, he received his Bachelor’s (2000) as well as Master’s (2006) from STIA (Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Administrasi Higher Institute of Administration) Bagasasi. He then received his Doctorate at Pasundan University in 2010.
He was a candidate in the 2013 local elections and received 43 percent of the votes. His victory was later challenged by rivals for administrative reasons. He had not registered his second wife during the election process. Effendi, as mayor, refused to revoke four permits for churches that were being protested by groups.
Mochtar was non-activated in 2011 for investigations into bribery, misuse of city funds and other crimes. Effendi was acting mayor during this time. Mochtar was convicted and sentenced to six years imprisonment on March 2012. In May, Effendi was elected mayor.

Rahmat Effendi, also known as Pepen (born 3 Feb 1964), is an Indonesian politician from the Golkar party. He has been the official mayor for Bekasi since the 3 May 2012. He was previously the acting mayor of Bekasi, replacing his predecessor who was convicted on corruption charges.
Between 1999 and 2008, he was a member and speaker of the Bekasi Regional People’s Representative Council. In 2008, he was elected deputy to Mochtar Mohamad.
He was reelected following the 2018 election, securing 67.5% of the votes.
