Van Hollebeke’s very first appearance with the national team was in 2008 at the very same tournament. During her 100th cap against Iceland, Van Hollebeke scored a goal, making her only the 4th U.S woman next to Tiffeny Milbrett, Shannon MacMillan, and Abby Wambach to score in their 100th appearance.
On January 11, 2013 Van Hollebeke was one of three members from the United States women’s national team that was allocated to the new NWSL club Portland Thorns FC, along with Alex Morgan and Tobin Heath.
Van Hollebeke, Nicole Barnhart, and Leslie Osborne were all part of the 2008 Beijing gold-medal team. They were allocated to the new Santa Clara, California club FC Gold Pride on September 16. FC Gold Pride was coached by Albertin Montoya (ex-San Jose Clash midfielder) and was the seventh and last club to participate in the inaugural season Women’s Professional Soccer.

Van Hollebeke attended Stanford University, where she was named by the NCAA Honors Committee as a recipient of the NCAA Top VIII Award, and completed her senior year in 2007, majoring in human biology/pre-medicine. Van Hollebeke, a three-year Cardinal captain, was an All-Pac-10 Conference First-Team Selection, an NSCAA Scholar Athlete First-Team All-American Scholar, and was named the ESPN Academic All-American. In 2006, as a redshirt junior, she was one the two Pac-10 All-Academic first team members.
Van Hollebeke played on many U.S. youth teams including U-16 and U-17. She was also a member the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship team in Canada, the first place team, and the third-place team at the 2004 FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship, Thailand. In July 2006, she joined the U.S. national team training camp and made her debut for the full team at the Algarve Cup 2008 in Portugal. Van Hollebeke was selected to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Women’s Soccer Team on June 23, 2008. She was a part of two matches and contributed one assist. She was also selected for the FIFA Women’s World Cup squad in 2011 and played on the USA’s first game against North Korea. Van Hollebeke was part the 2012 London Olympics gold medal winning team. Van Hollebeke was present in six matches, and only 35 minutes of the United States’ gold medal campaign.
