McQuarters was a three-year Oklahoma State Cowboys basketball player. McQuarters was a Booker T. Washington High School basketball player in Tulsa before he attended OSU. McQuarters was coached by Nate Harris, who coached the West Team at the McDonald’s High School All-American Game in 1996.
McQuarters’ claims that McQuarters was wrongfully placed in default by a bank on $1.3million in loans were dismissed by a Chicago judge in October 2006. McQuarters counter-sued that McQuarters’s claims that McQuarters was in default on $1.3 million of loans were false. He claimed that bank representatives had committed consumer fraud and that McQuarters had signed bank documents fraudulently. McQuarters was ordered by the judge to pay $20,000.
On April 29, 2011, McQuarters was shot once in the back as he departed a friend’s house in Tulsa. McQuarters was not seriously hurt, and was able to drive himself to the hospital. He described the gunman as a man wearing a ski mask.
