Quinton Antoine McCracken, born August 16, 1970, is an American former professional baseball catcher. He was the Tampa Bay Devil Rays’ first center fielder and batter, and he played in all or part twelve seasons of Major League Baseball (MLB).
After the season, he was declared a free agent and signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks on January 9, 2002. He played the entire season for the major league team, hitting.309 in the NL West win. McCracken slugged.364 in 11 games against the St. Louis Cardinals, but the D’Backs were swept out by the Cardinals. His 2003 batting average fell to.227, nearly 100 points. He was traded to Seattle Mariners on December 15th 2003 for Greg Colbrunn, first baseman. McCracken didn’t get much playing time in Seattle and was released on June 9. He signed a new contract with the D-Backs two days later and batted.288 over 55 games. After the season, he was a free agent and signed with Arizona. McCracken was struggling with a.237 average in 2005. He became a free agent following the season.
On February 14, 2006, he signed with the Cincinnati Reds, but was released on July 6. The Minnesota Twins, after signing him to a minor league contract on July 21, announced at the end of the 2006 season that they would not re-sign McCracken after he had played for their Triple-A affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings. He was not picked up by another team, and signed on to play with the independent Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League. After one season in independent ball, McCracken played for the Dominican Winter Baseball League in late 2007 and retired.
He joined the front office of the Diamondbacks in 2011, and moved to the Houston Astros in 2012. McCracken joined the Miami Marlins staff in a player development role in December of 2017. In January 2019, he joined the Durham Bulls as a third-base coach in a return to the city where he attended college.
McCracken was selected by the expansion Tampa Bay Devil Rays as their 2nd pick of the 1997 Major League Baseball expansion draft. He will be their starting center fielder in 1998. McCracken played in a record-breaking 155 games and was named the Devil Rays’ first-ever most valuable player. He batting.292 with 7 runs and 59 RBI. Due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, McCracken played only 40 games in 1999. He spent most of 2000 with Triple-A Durham. He was released by the Devil Rays on November 27, 2000. On December 22, he signed with St. Louis Cardinals. McCracken signed on April 13, 2001 with the Minnesota Twins. McCracken spent the majority of 2001 in Triple-A where he slugged.338 for Edmonton.

McCracken was a South Brunswick High School graduate. He was the starting running back, the free safety in football and the starting point guard for basketball.
