Qaiser Mushtaq is one of the most popular and richest Mathematician who was born on February 28, 1954 in Sheikhupura, Pakistan. He was an overseas scholar of the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851in 80 and a senior Fulbright Scholar 1990. Mushtaq was made an associate member in 1991 of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics.
Mushtaq was instrumental in the establishment of the Islamic Society at Oxford. From 1980 to 1983, he was the vice-president of the Islamic Society at Oxford and its secretary. He was also instrumental in the revival of the Oxford University Pakistan Society, where he was vice-president between 1981 and 1982.
He served as vice chancellor of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur from 19 December 2014 to December 2018.
Primary education was from the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Sialkot and secondary education at Government Pilot Secondary School in Sialkot. Mushtaq was a student at Murray College for a while before his family moved to Rawalpindi where he attended Gordon College. He earned his MSc, and M.Phil. Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. After a year, he joined Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan as a lecturer before returning to Quaid-i-Azam University 1979. In 1980, he was awarded the Royal Scholarship to complete his D.Phil. Wolfson College, Oxford. Graham Higman was his doctoral student. He received a doctorate for his thesis, Coset Diagrams for Modular Group. He was a visiting mathematician at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, in 1990. From 1993 to 1999, he was an associate professor at Universiti Brunei darussalam. He then returned to Pakistan.

This method is so efficient and rewarding that it can be used in Combinatorial Group Theory and Algebraic Number Theory as well as Theory of Group Graphs. From December 2014 to December 2018, he was vice-chancellor at The Islamia University Bahawalpur. Mushtaq is a leading educator and mathematician in Pakistan. His research and writings have had a profound impact on the development of mathematics in Pakistan. Mushtaq is an honorary professor at the Mathematics Division, Institute for Basic Research in Florida, USA.
In Pakistan, he started the ‘Mathematical Seminar Series’ at Quaid-i-Azam University in 1983 and developed it into an institution recognised nationally. At Quaid-i-Azam University, he founded the ‘Algebra Forum’ which has held advanced level seminars on algebra in particular and on various academic topics of general interest. He reformed and restructured the Mathematical Society of Brunei Darussalam as its president.
