Preki is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on June 24, 1963 in Belgrade, Serbia. Predrag Radovljevic (Serbian Cyrillic name: Predrag Radoslav Radosavljevitsh; born June 24, 1963), also known as Preki (/’ p r–e k i/), is an ex-manager of international soccer in the United States. He was previously the manager of Saint Louis FC and Sacramento Republic FC in the United Soccer League. He has also coached Major League Soccer with Toronto FC, and Chivas USA.
He played for English clubs Everton, Portsmouth and was an MLS original upon the creation of Major League Soccer in 1996. He played for the Kansas City Wizards, now known as Sporting Kansas City, and Miami Fusion. He was the only two-time winner the MLS MVP award now known as Landon Donovan MVP Award. He also represented the United States at 1998 FIFA World Cup. In 2010, he was elected to the American National Soccer Hall of Fame.
Preki left Chivas “by mutual consent” on November 12, 2009, following Chivas’ failure to progress to the latter stages of the MLS playoffs. He became head coach of Toronto FC on November 19, 2009. However, Preki didn’t last the 2010 MLS season with Toronto, being fired along with General Manager Mo Johnston on September 14, 2010. Under Preki, Toronto qualified for the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League after winning the 2010 Canadian Championship.
On July 15, 2013, after nearly three years out of coaching, Preki was named head coach of the USL Professional Division (now United Soccer League) expansion Sacramento Republic FC in advance of their inaugural 2014 season. He won the USL Pro Championship game in September 2014 with the club. On July 8, 2015, Preki announced his resignation from his post to take up a coaching role in the United Kingdom.
Preki began outdoor play again in 1996, when he joined Kansas City Wiz. The Wiz was renamed to the Wizards following the 1996 season. On February 6, 1996, the league assigned him to the Wiz. He played for the Wizards every season except 2001, when he was with the Miami Fusion. Preki was re-acquired by the Wizards in 2002 MLS Dispersal Draft after the Fusion were signed. However, this happened only after all other teams in the league had rejected him. Preki is the only player who has won both the MLS MVP Award, the MLS Scoring Champion Award (now known respectively as the Landon Donovan MVP Award, and the MLS Golden Boot). He is also the current league leader in points (270 on 79 goals, 112 assists) and 25 on 10 goals, 5 assists in playoffs. Preki won the 2000 MLS Cup for the Wizards. Preki retired after the 2005 season. He scored a goal in Kansas City’s final game. After the 2005 season, Preki was named to the MLS All-Time Best XI. He was 42 years old when he played the final competitive match.
