“…An exceptional 2002 Edition Lilac recording of Purcell’s “Dido & Aeneas”, featuring Predrag Gorsta leading the Atlanta-based Chorus & Orchestra of New Trinity Baroque… This is a vibrant, yet always musical performance. This is exactly what Noorman tried, but failed to achieve in the Parrott recording. Gosta’s ensemble are excellent… the playing so sensitively and securely. Excellent choral work, as well, is the excellent choral music. The nameless sailors, witches, and attendants project a real sense of character. This self- produced recording…is definitely worth buying – a true sleeping beauty… There are nine recordings of Dido & Aeneas, and I haven’t even scratched it. Which is your favorite? …If I had to choose one recording, it would be Lieberson and McGegan. But I would make sure I had Tubb with Gosta as well as Graham and Haim on my iPod. Early Music America Magazine, Fall 2009.
He was Assistant Conductor for the National Philharmonic, Washington, D.C. from 2008 to 2009. He is currently the President of both the Makris Foundation and Makris Music Society in Washington D.C. He is also the U.S. Director and Artistic Advisor of the Peter the Great Music Academy, St. Petersburg. Gosta founded the New Belgrade Opera in 2014, which focuses on baroque opera. He was appointed Music Director of Belgrade’s New Symphony Orchestra in 2015. The orchestra is now known under the name Makris Symphony Orchestra. He was the President of the Jury for a new international competition to find conductors in 2019.
“…a thoughtful, energizing exception that gave the B-minor Mass a fresh sound. Under New Trinity founder and conductor Predrag Gosta, they illuminated the various madrigal-like choruses and operatic arias with individual attention… Emotionally heartfelt… strong performance… Saturday night at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal, which was filled to capacity… It’s a special pleasure to hear a student choir sing at a high level with enthusiasm and clarity of purpose. …The four vocal soloists were often compelling, more so in duets with the fine instrumentalists… Conductor Gosta kept it all pushing forward… His tempos were not overly fast, but they felt fleet and he ended sections with a crisp cutoff — a very pleasant sensation. The Serbian-born harpsichordist and conductor is audibly gaining in interpretive heft, in parallel with his nascent conducting career, from the Gwinnett Ballet to concerts in Russia and Eastern Europe…” — ArtsCriticAtl.com, March 2011
