Her debut album, We Are on the Race Track, which was also produced by Farian, featured her co-writing the title track. It was released on Hansa Records in 1980. The album was released in October. Wilson performed the song “Cry to Me” on television, supported by Sky Train, the band she had created. It reached number 3 in Switzerland. The album’s second single, “We Are on the Race Track”, was No. 11 in Switzerland, early 1981.

Hot on the heels of the then Aerobic craze and Farian’s success with the album Aerobic Fitness Dancing, the theme song “Let’s Move Aerobic (Move Your Body)” was rush-released with Wilson’s vocals in March 1983. Her third album Funky Fingers, consisting of two side-long medleys of soul standards, was released in December 1983. In 1985, she signed with Jive Records and teamed up with multiple producer teams for the album, including American songwriter, Monte Moir, a musician and songwriter, best known as a member of The Time.

Wilson’s first single as a solo artist, “Hold on I’m Coming”, was a cover of Sam & Dave’s song. It was released August 1979. The single was produced by Frank Farian, and featured a funky disco beat. 45 on the Dutch charts. Boney M. also included the song on his No. Oceans of Fantasy, the 1 album that includes the song, also featured a Wilson guest performance on the opening track “Let It All Be Music”.

Precious Wilson began her career as a backing vocalist for Eruption, an all- male band. After winning a talent contest in 1975, the group had their first minor success. They then recorded “Let Me Take You back in Time” in 1976. The group lost their lead singer shortly afterward, and Precious was elected to be the frontwoman.

In 1976, the group moved to Germany. The following year, in 1977, Eruption was on the road in Germany. Frank Farian, a German producer, introduced them to Eruption. He booked them to play with Boney M and to be their support band on Boney M’s first European tour. Frank Farian signed them to Boney M.’s Hansa Records label. Farian released “Party Party”, but it was their disco cover of Ann Peebles'”I Can’t Stand The Rain” that made them a big hit. It earned them a UK No. 5 and a US No. 18 hit. Precious Wilson left Precious Wilson to pursue her solo career.

In October 1981, she released a cover version of “I Need You” which peaked at No. 6 in Switzerland where her popularity was lingering. In Germany, it reached No. 39. In the summer of 1982, the electro-pop track “I Don’t Know” was released, followed by her second album All Coloured in Love. The album was released with a different track selection in the UK, Italy and France under the name Red Light followed by several different single releases in the various territories.
