Jones is known for using the letter “p”, to create word play, and his own singing voices and free-styles in music. He credits himself with the creation of “Celestial Brainphunk.” Jones describes his music as a mix of R&B, hip hop, jazz and funk elements, with derivatives from funk. Rapper Fabolous spoke with MTV Rapfix Live about Pikahso’s video “P-00” and stated that Jones’ music was “mainly upbeat soul,” which is a good foundation for Pikahso’s harmonizing.

Together with PPT, he created the Dallas Mavericks playoffs song “Roudy Loud and Proud”. The video was shot at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. It was announced by Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner. It was performed during the playoffs. SPIN Magazine featured the group and Dallas Observer named them best Rap/Hip-Hop group in 2007. In mid-2008, irreconcilable differences led to the group’s mutual dissolution.

Jones was born in South Dallas, Texas. Jones graduated from Lincoln High School, where he was a bass singer in the choir. He began developing his vocal skills through visuals and vocals, which gave rise to his stage name. In the late 1980s, he attended the Dallas Branch of Columbia School of Broadcasting (now closed).

Jones was part of the hip-hop group Dysphunkshunal. They also recorded introductions on segments like the Skip Murphy Morning Show, K104 in mid- 1990s. As a member the group PPT, Jones signed to Idol Records in 2006. He has been a co-producer on tracks for Beyonce, Kanye West and Strange Fruit Project with music producer SymbolycOne (S1). Jones and his label mates produced the video for “Down South Girl”, which featured Strange Fruit Project in 2006. It was also produced by Symbolyc One (S1). Jones was also featured on Symbolyc One’s Music Box album and hip-hop producer Erotic D’s The Black Bruce Willis which was released in the latter part of 2008.
