Pieter Seelaar is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on July 2, 1987 in Schiedam, South Holland, Netherlands. Pieter Marinus Seelaar, a Dutch cricketer, is the current captain of the national side. He is both a right-handed batsman as well as a left-arm orthodox spinner. He had previously played for The Netherlands at the Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 levels. His senior debut was in a C&G Trophy match against Warwickshire, 3 May 2005. Later that year, he played in the ICC Trophy. On 6 July 2006, he made his One Day International debut in the match against Sri Lanka. He made his Twenty20 International debut two years later.
The 2011-12 Caribbean Twenty20 saw ten teams: seven were from the Caribbean, and three were invited from abroad. Canada, who had participated in the two previous editions of this tournament, was represented by the three foreign teams. The Netherlands and Sussex County Cricket Club were the new teams. Seelaar was part of the 14-man team and took three wickets, an average of 20.66. The Caribbean Twenty20 was held in January 2012. It was thought that this would be a good preparation for the Netherlands’ participation at the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier. The qualifying tournament was hosted by the UAE. Although the Netherlands reached the finals, they were defeated by Ireland. They did not qualify for the World Twenty20 Qualifier later in the year. Seelaar contributed eight wickets to nine matches.
In February 2017, during the Netherlands 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Hong Kong, he and Ben Cooper set a new Dutch record for the highest partnership for any wicket in a first-class match and the highest sixth-wicket partnership in the Intercontinental Cup, when they made 288 runs.
In July 2018, he was named as the captain of the Netherlands’ One Day International (ODI) squad, for their series against Nepal.
In 2010, the England and Wales Cricket Board introduced a new one day competition, The Clydesdale Bank 40. Two teams from overseas were invited to join the 18 first-class teams in England and Wales. The final two teams were made up of the Netherlands and Scotland. The Netherlands lost all but two matches. They won the other. Seelaar was the Netherlands’ top wicket-taker with 13 dismissals, an average of 28.46, and best figures of 3 out of 31 (3/31).

Ireland hosted the 2008 ICC World Twenty20 Qualification. They were pre- tournament favorites. The tournament marker was the first time that four of the six participating teams had played Twenty20 Internationals (T20I), including the Netherlands. Nine of the nine players from the Netherlands, including Seelaar were playing their first Twenty20 match. Seelaar was unable to take two wickets and conceded 59 runs. The final was canceled by rain and the title was split between Ireland and the Netherlands. Both countries qualified for the 2009 World Twenty20.
A qualifying tournament was held in April 2009 for the 2011 World Cup. This tournament allowed Associate and Affiliate members to qualify for the 2011 World Cup. The Netherlands was one of the winning teams. Seelaar took seven wickets in eight matches that cost an average of more than fifty runs each. Seelaar was included in the Netherlands’ 15-man squad for the 2011 World Cup. Losing all six of their matches, the Netherlands exited in the first round. Seelaar was the team’s leading wicket-taker in the competition with eight wickets for 306 runs. Later that year the Netherlands took part in the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40. They improved on the results of the previous year, winning five and tying one of their twelve matches. Seelaar took seven wickets at an average of 50.00.
