Pieter Huistra is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on January 18, 1967 in Goënga, Netherlands. Pieter Egge Huistra, Dutch pronunciation: [‘pit@r] ‘hoeystra, was born 18 January 1967. He is currently assistant manager at Pakhtakor Tashkent FK, Uzbekistan. Huistra was a player for the Rangers, a Scottish Premier Division club from 1990-1995. He moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Japan. League. He became the head coach of Jong Groningen in 2001. He was there for four years, before he was named assistant coach at Aad De Mos at Vitesse. After four years, he became assistant coach at AFC Ajax. He was then named their head coach on April 24, 2009. For the 2010-11 season, he was the FC Groningen head coach. He was then appointed the Eerste Divisie club De Graafschap’s head coach on the 30th of May 2012. He was finally appointed the technical director of the Indonesian national football team on 3/12/2014.

He was appointed as the new head coach of the recently relegated 2012-13 Eerste Divisie club De Graafschap. His goal is to get his club back into the top flight. He was the manager of the month and won a stage title in his first season as a new coach. The team lost to Roda JC in the second round of the promotion play-offs. His hard work was recognized by the directors who renewed his contract. Huistra was involved in a conflict with some fans during the second season and was fired on the 24th of December 2013.

On 3 December 2014 he was appointed as the Technical Director of the Indonesian football association, PSSI.

On 7 May 2015 he was called to become the interim coach of the Indonesia National Team for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and the Asian Cup qualifiers in 2019. Unfortunately, 1 month later FIFA banned Indonesia to take part because of political interference.

Huistra started his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Dutch nat.team-17 in 2000. He moved to Hong Kong in 2001 to be the assistant coach of the Hong Kong team. He returned to FC Groningen in 2001 to help with the youth academy and to lead the -19 team. Jong Groningen He remained there for four more years. He left Groningen on the 1st of July 2005 and was appointed as Vitesse Arnhem’s new assistant coach. He became the assistant coach at AFC Ajax, replacing Rob Witschge, and was appointed the Jong Ajax Head Coaching Coach on April 24, 2009. Huistra was named the new head coach of the team for the 2010-11 season after Ron Jans, FC Groningen’s coach, announced his intention to retire at the end.

Huistra began his football career in amateur football with SC Joure, Drachtster Boys. His qualities quickly stood out. At 17 years old, he made his professional debut for FC Groningen. He replaced Anne Mulder in the 1-3 loss against FC Volendam. He was then loaned to BV Veendam who entered the Dutch Premier League after two seasons. Kees Rijvers brought him to FC Twente. The Dutch national team made him a regular fixture and he was named as the left winger. He was unable to make the 1990 World Cup squad due to injury. He participated in eight international matches.

Huistra was a Scottish Premier Division player for Rangers from 1990 to 1995. He was the first Dutch player to play for Rangers and won five League medals as well as two League Cup medals. He scored 2 goals against Falkirk in a 3-2 win at Brockville Park on January 14, 1995, his farewell match with Rangers. He played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima during the J1 League before he left Rangers.

He served as head coach for two full seasons. The first season was very successful. With attacking and exciting football and with a record number of points the team reached the final of the play offs to qualify for Europa League football in which it lost on penalty kicks. In the second season the club renewed his contract but many of the top players were sold. The new team was not capable to repeat the successful 2010-2011 season. Due to illness and injuries the club missed out on the play offs and ended in 14th place. the seasonal outcome, below the boards aspirations, led to his dismissal on 10 May 2012.
