He was Canada’s top singles player from June 21, 2010 until January 17, 2011 in the ATP rankings. He was also Canada’s No. 2 from August 4, 2008 until June 21, 2010, with the exception of one week. In 2018, he became the first player in the Open Era to qualify for all four Grand Slam tournaments as a lucky loser within the same calendar year.

Coming through three rounds of qualifying, he lost to the 18th seed Igor Andreev from Russia in the first round of the Australian Open, despite being up on his opponent two sets to love.
