P-Orridge’s career in music began in 1979, when she met artist and musician Genesis P-Orridge while working in the Tesco store within Hackney, East London.
Paula joined the Genesis band Psychic TV in 1983, playing drums and making sound collages. She was also in charge of managing the mail-order section for Temple Records, and at times was the band’s tour manager, as well as company liaison for records.
In 1995 while in the United States, Paula released a solo ambient music and spoken word album, Sacred Dreams, on the San Francisco-based record label, Silent Records. Sacred Dreams differed significantly from her previous work and she released the album under her new name of Alaura O’Dell.
