Paul van Geert is one of the most popular and richest Linguist who was born on January 8, 1950 in Temse, Belgium. Between 1967 and 1971, van Geert studied psychology and educational sciences at Ghent University, Belgium. In 1975, he was awarded with the title of PhD on Developmental psychology. In 1976, he became an instructor for the University of Groningen.

He developed a Microsoft Excel VBA code to model developmental data in 2003.

In 2002, he developed new methods and techniques to assess the degree of variation by using min-max graphs, resampling methods as well as the Monte Carlo method along with Marijn van Dijk.
