Paul Shrubb (born 1 August 1955) is an English retired professional footballer, coach , and scout. He made over 350 appearances as an athlete for the Football League, most notably for Brentford and Aldershot. He went back to Aldershot as an assistant manager and also coached at a range of clubs that were not league.

Shrubb joined Fourth Division club Aldershot in August 1982. The club made 202 appearances, as well as scoring six goals over the course of five seasons before leaving following the Shots triumph in 1987’s Fourth Division play-off final. He put his talents as an professional player and was sporting every number of shirts (1-11) throughout his time at the club.

Shrubb dropped into non-League football in 1987 and had spells with Isthmian League clubs Woking, Dorking, Leatherhead, Cove and Wessex League club Fleet Town.

Shrubb lives in Aldershot and ran his own window cleaning business. He was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in January 2006 and was given two years to live by doctors. The condition forced Shrubb to give up full-time work in 2009.

Shrubb went back to England and was a part of Fourth Division club Brentford in March 1977. With a small group consisting of just a handful of players Shrubb flourished in his role as utility player in the defence as well as midfield. He also played a role in the Bees getting promoted into the Third Division in the 1977-78 season. Shrubb became the captain of Jackie Graham for a time and was captain while Graham was injured. Shrubb was absent for only a handful of games per season , until the 1981-82 season, after which Shrubb was dropped at the beginning of the season. Shrubb left the Bees in August of 1982, having played in 198 games and scoring eight goals in the five seasons he played for the club.

Shrubb began his professional career in the youth training program of Second Division club Fulham and signed his first professional contract in 1972. Shrubb made his debut in the 1972-73 season. It was his final appearance until his departure in the year 1975.

Shrubb relocated into South Africa to sign for National Football League club Hellenic in 1975. The highlight of his time at Hellenic was his participation in his final in the 1976 NFL Cup, which was lost to Cape Town City.

Between 1987 and 1992, Shrubb held player-coach roles with Woking, Dorking, Leatherhead, Fleet Town and Cove. When he returned to Aldershot in 1992, he became player-assistant manager of the club and was caretaker manager for one match in 1995, after the departure of Steve Wignall. He was offered the job on a permanent basis but turned it down, citing work commitments. After his retirement from playing, Shrubb served as Steve Wigley’s assistant, before departing the Recreation Ground for the final time in 1997. He later served Hampton and Kingstonian as a coach and resigned from the latter club in April 2001, in protest over the sacking of fellow coach Ian McDonald.
