Paul John Quantrill (born November 3 of 1948) has been a Major League Baseball right- handed relief pitcher. He gained a name for being extremely durable and having a superb control. Quantrill often played in more than 80 games in a season. He also was unable to walk more that 25 batters one season starting in 1996. Many commentators joked that the player was the “rubber arm”.
In the year 2004, Quantrill signed a two-year, $6.8-million deal with the Yankees. In the wake of poor performances likely due to the excessive use of Joe Torre, in late 2004 and in early 2005, Quantrill was assigned to the team on July 1st on the 1st of July, 2005.
On June 19, 2010, Quantrill was inducted, along with former Blue Jay Roberto Alomar, into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Marys, Ontario.
As of June 2016, Quantrill serves as a special assistant to the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

Quantrill was selected in 1986 by Los Angeles Dodgers in the 26th round, 660th overall however, he did not take the plunge and sign. Following three seasons in University of Wisconsin, University of Wisconsin he was selected again with the Boston Red Sox in the sixth round of the amateur draft in 1989 161st overall. He began his Major League debut on July 20th in 1992. Though he was initially thought to be a starter, Quantrill ultimately found his way as a relief pitcher after many years of dividing his time between the bullpen as well as the team’s starting rotation. One of his most memorable years came with his team, the Toronto Blue Jays, a team that is located in his own region of Ontario.
His son Cal was born on February 10 1995 played baseball in the baseball program at Stanford University and was selected in the first round, 8th overall, of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres.
Quantrill was one of the coaches for Team Canada during the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
