In 1999, working at WTTG, Leamy broadcast an investigative piece about the Washington, D.C. rave party, dubbed “Buzz.” The story claimed the D.C. police officers working in off-duty security to guard the event did not take into account the use of drugs by guests. The Washington City Paper criticized the report. Buzz was shut down temporarily and the owners then filed a lawsuit against WTTG.
