He took home 6 Grand Slam men’s doubles titles and five of them with Jacco Eltingh, and the other in partnership with Yevgeny Kafelnikov.
His most impressive Grand Slam singles performance was reaching the quarterfinals of the 1991 US Open, where he defeated Eric Jelen, Andrei Chesnokov as well as second player Boris Becker and Carl-Uwe Steeb after which he lost against Jimmy Connors.
