Paul Carberry is one of the most popular and richest Jockey who was born on February 9, 1974 in Dublin, Ireland. The birth date was the 9th of February 1974. He is a member of an athletic family. He is the child of jockey Tommy Carberry, who was an infamous National Hunt jockey in the 1960s and the 1970s. His father was Arthur Moore, one of Ireland’s most renowned National Hunt trainers. Two of his younger sisters, Philip and Nina, were also successful Irish racers.

After he was suspended, Carberry and Go Native were joined to compete in the 2010 Champion Hurdle. A victory in the race would have given Go Native the Triple Crown of Hurdling and Carberry could have earned PS150,000 in his share from the PS1m bonus paid by WBX. But, Go Native was unable to win the race and ended up finishing in 10th position after being defeated on the last hurdle. Afterward, Carberry said that Go Native fell following the second hurdle but wasn’t the same going forward.

On 9 August 2016, Carberry announced his retirement from the saddle after failing to recover from a long-standing leg injury sustained in a fall at Listowel in September 2015.

Despite his many successes with National Hunt racing, Carberry was not without problems from the track. The year 2005 saw him detained and charged with a alleged incident that took place aboard one of the Aer Lingus aircraft between Malaga in Spain to Dublin. Based on reports Carberry claimed to set fire to the newspaper during the flight. The judge sentenced him to jail for two months in connection with the incident. As of 2009, Carberry received a 30 day suspension from the Referrals Committee of the Turf Club following a failed alcohol breath test in Naas on the 31st of October, 2009. The suspension forced Carberry to be absent from his 2009 Fighting Fifth Hurdle and Christmas Hurdle. Carberry’s substitute, Davy Condon, rode Go Native to wins in both races.
