In 2004 Melton was awarded Project Greenlight Season 3 along with Marcus Dunstan and John Gulager. The show premiered on Bravo and culminated in the horror/comedy movie Feast. Based on its popularity there were two sequels, Feast II: Sloppy Seconds and Feast III: The Happy Finish. But it was Melton’s involvement in Saw the most popular horror franchise ever, that earned him international recognition and box-office successes. Melton composed Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI and Saw 3D to earn a global sum of close to $500,000,000. In addition, Melton wrote the home invasion thriller The Collector, which was directed by his long-time writer, Marcus Dunstan.
After a successful films, Melton & Dunstan set their goals for television. They sold their concepts to FOX, CBS, and ABC. In October of 2006 the duo made their first TV pitch to FOX called The Vineyard. The show was a hilarious half-hour horror/comedy, with Family Guy show runner Chris Sheridan working as Executive Producer.
Melton & Dunstan collaborated with Clive Barker in 2009 and sold an hourlong drama titled Clive Barker’s Hotel to ABC. McG was attached to produce.
