Fr. Dennis Champagne, the accused priest, remained in the ministry until 2002, when he finally resigned after the boy made his accusations public.

After the divorce of his parents took place in the year 1958 Conroy was able to move along with his mom into Arlington, Virginia, living there until the middle of his sophomore year at high school. Patrick J. Conroy, S.J. (born October 31st 1950) is an American lawyer and Jesuit priest serving as the 60th Chaplain of United States House of Representatives. The announcement of his appointment was made through the speaker of the United States House of Representatives on May 6, 2011 Conroy was sworn into office to the position of House Chaplain on May 25, 2011 after a unanimous vote of the House. Conroy gave his first sermon as House Chaplain on May 26, 2011. In April, Conroy was asked to resign. Conroy was asked to quit in the wake of House Speaker Paul Ryan, and did it with the effective date of May 24, 2018. About two weeks later Conroy changed his mind and declared his intention to remain in the post after a number of objections to Ryan’s decision were voiced by lawmakers from both sides of line. Speaker Ryan acknowledged the resignation of Conroy’s resignation notice and reinstated his position as House Chaplain House Chaplain on May 3, 2018.

Conroy did practice law for the Colville Confederated Tribes in Omak, Washington, representing tribal members in state courts, he represented Salvadoran refugees for the Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Immigration Office in San Francisco while studying theology, and again worked for the Colville Tribes helping to develop the case for the Tribes’ treaty fishing rights in the mid 1980s. He has not practiced law since 1986.”
