Hunt has broken more than 30 bones during accidents in the field of alpine science. One of them is a fracture in his leg in 2002 when he was conducting the lichenological study at Bourg-Saint Pierre at the foot of the Pennine Alps and a couple of smaller fractures have been reported since.
In 2011, he was the expert on the Hannibal team for Spike’s TV show Deadliest Warrior.
In one of his projects, Hunt researches the history of Celtic and Roman presence in the area in the Great St Bernard Pass. In 1996, he discovered the temple quarry of Jupiter within the area in the Pass. In 2003, he supervised an entire team of researchers and students who found an assemblage of Roman silver coins in an archeological site located situated in the Swiss Alps.
