Deneen is the winner of the Gold Medal in the 2009 International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle World Ski Championships. As of December 9, Deneen took home the US Olympic trials in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and was selected to the US Olympic Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. For FIS World Cup competitions, Deneen has been on the top of the podium in four events over the course of 25 starts and was named the 2009 Freestyle Newcomer of the Year.
In the first two races during the 2009-2010 season Deneen failed to place in the top 20. He was able to rebound during the US Olympic trials in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. At 15 years old He renounced the sport of horse racing to focus on skiing. He began the transition from freestyle to alpine and even was the winner of a downhill race as well as moguls competition on that same week. He quickly developed into freestyle skier and was selected for the US Junior Ski Team by the age of 16. Deneen had his first FIS World Cup start in January 2005 in Lake Placid, New York and the following year, following his return from an injury, he became a the bronze medalist in the World Junior Championships at Krasnoye Ozero in Russia.
