Patrice Emery Trovoada (born 18 March 1962) is a Sao Tomean politician who served as the Minister of Prime in Sao Tome and Principe until November 2014. until December 2018. He was also the Sao Tome and Principe’s Prime Secretary from February until June 2008 and from August 2010 until December 2012.
Trovoada’s administration was defeated by an amendment to censure at the National Assembly on May 20 the 20th of May, 2008, following three months in the office. The motion, which was introduced from the opposing Movement for the Liberation of Sao Tome and Principe/Social Democratic Party (MLSTP/PSD) it received 30 votes for, 23 against and two abstentions. The motion was introduced in June. Menezes requested that the MLSTP/PSD form a government and the party elected their leader Joaquim Rafal Branco to be the Prime Minister.
On February 14, 2008, Trovoada became Prime Minister; he was appointed by Menezes following the resignation of Tomé Vera Cruz.
After the 2010 parliamentary election, Trovoada returned as Prime Minister on August 14, 2010, but left office on December 13, 2012, after his government had lost its majority in parliament. However, the parliamentary election of 2014 again produced a majority for Trovoada’s Independent Democratic Action party, with 33 of the 55 seats in the National Assembly, and he was again appointed to head a new government.
Trovoada is Secretary-General for Independent Democratic Action (ADI) which is a political party. He was a presidential candidate in the presidential election of July 2006 however, he lost to Menezes the incumbent president. Trovoada was the sole major opposition candidate , and he got 38.82 percent of the vote.

Trovoada was born in Libreville, Gabon. He is the child of Miguel Trovoada, who was the President of Sao Tome and Principe from 1991 until 2001. He was named in honor of Patrice Lumumba who was the former Premier Secretary from Congo (Leopoldville). He attended school in Portugal as well as France.
