Patience Okon George (born 25 November 1991) is a Nigerian sprinter. She was a participant in the 400-meter distance in the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China and also at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. George is twice African Championships bronze medallist in the individual 400m event. She also is three-time Nigerian national champion in the 400 meters.
She took home her second individual African Championships bronze medal in the 400-meter race in the 2016 Durban Championships. She finished third, after Mupopo and Margaret Wambui. She also helped lead the Nigerian 4 400m foursome (Omolara Omotosho, Regina George, Yinka Ajayi, Patience Okon George) to an Olympic silver medal on the final stage of championships. She also held her title as the national champion in 2016 and secured her place at her place in the Rio Olympic Games.
As of 2015 Okon George broke a record with a personal record that was 50.76s in the 400m at the Resisprint event at the Swiss city of La Chaux-de-Fonds. It was the first time she ran sub-par to the 51s mark. The 2015 World Championships in Athletics, she matched her personal best in the semi-finals of women’s 400 meters after running the time of 50.87 s to be ranked as the third fastest athlete at her time in the heat. In the following year, in the All Africa Games, she was awarded a silver medal alongside Kabange Mupopo, who set a new personal record time of 50.71 s.
