Pascal Morand (born December 20 1955 in Neuilly, in the Seine Valley) has been elected the President-elect of the Fédération french-based de la couture. He is also an instructor of the ESCP Europe Business School, an active member of the Academie des Technologies (The National Academy of Technologies of France) and an active participant in the Commission d’evaluation des formations et diplomes de gestation (The Commission for the Evaluation of Management Training and Degrees) and as a member of Conseil national education-economie, a group founded through the French National Education Ministry to encourage greater cooperation between the business sector as well as higher educational.

Morand also headed a European-mediterranean mission to examine the strategic repositioning of Moroccan garment and textile industry (2002-2003) as well as conducting numerous reports for the Moroccan government concerning the reform of tariffs and the creation of an art school (2003-2005)

Morand has been a member of the Board and then Director of the Centre textile de conjoncture et d’observation économique (CTCOE), a fashion and textile economic observatory, from 1992 to 1998, the year this institution merged with the Institut Français de la Mode; a member of the Board of the Union Française des Arts du Costume (UFAC) from 1992 à 2006; a member of the Board of the École nationale supérieure de création industrielle (ENSCI-Les Ateliers) from 2006 to 2011. Morand co-founded the Institute for innovation and competitiveness (i7) in 2009. In addition, he was president of the strategic advisory board of the Docks-Cité de la mode et du design from 2012 to 2014.

Morand was actively involved with the government sector. during the period 2000-2006 Morand was the leader of various French as well as European missions, including in support of Christian Pierret, the Minister of Industry along with his replacement Nicole Fontaine. One of his projects led to the establishment for the Cite de la mode et du design in Paris and is located at Quai d’Austerlitz, in Paris. He also analyzed the implications of the demise of multi-fiber agreements as well as the inclusion of China to the World Trade Organization on the fashion and textile industries.

Morand was born into a family with a father Joseph Morand, a statistical engineer and a mother, Francoise Grappin (aka Francoise Beucler). Morand completed his studies at HEC MBA in 1978, and earned an advanced diploma from the Department of Organization Sciences at the University of Paris Dauphine in 1979. Morand received the PhD in economics at Rouen’s University of Rouen in 1988 The thesis he wrote was about “limited rationality and market economy” under the direction from French economics professor Christian de Boissieu.
