Naduparambil Pappachen Pradeep (born 28 April 1983) is an Indian footballer. A defensive player by profession, Pradeep hails from Thodupuzha in Kerala. He was captain of India’s U23 squad.

Pradeep has been a frequent player player on his Indian National Team. Pradeep is an attacking midfielder, and often scores soaring long rangers. He played for India at the AFC Asia Cup 2007 qualifiers and scored an assist against Yemen. Pradeep also represented India during the Vancouver Whitecaps Invitational in 2006 scoring a goal in the event too. Pradeep performed extremely well during India’s trip in Portugal in 2007, where they played Portuguese club teams.

During the off season after the I-League 2010-11 season Pradeep signed for I-League club Mohun Bagan A.C.

Since then Pradeep has been a regular in the first eleven of the senior national team, helping them to win two more trophies. In the Asian Cup 2011 Pradeep played a vital defensive role for India. Despite his efforts India crashed out of the Asian Cup after three defeats in the group stage.

The most memorable moment of his career could be during his performance in the Nehru Cup 2007 where he scored two stunning goals, including one in the finals against Syria that won India the trophy. He also opened and finished the scoring during the Nehru Cup 2007.

Pradeep used to be an attacking player during his young career. He also represented in his home state, Kerala, at Under-17 and under-21 levels. At the age of 17, Pradeep signed with SBT and was quickly changed into midfielder. He played for India at a variety of different levels of age groups and even the Under-20 team which reached the quarterfinals of 2002’s AFC Under-20 Championships. Pradeep continued to be awestruck at SBT and helped them take home the four Kerala League titles.

Pradeep’s first appearance in the senior squad was in 2005, during the SAFF Cup in Bangladesh, which India won. After 2006 Pradeep was the first to make a major move at the club level after he signed with National League champions Mahindra United. At Mahindra, Pradeep was able to show a talent of being extremely versatile, as he often played as a fullback. The player from Kerala was also captain of the India under-20 team that made it to the final eight in the AFC Challenge Cup.

He won the IFA Shield and reached the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup with Mahindra and caught the eye of newly appointed India coach Bob Houghton. Initially he was used as a left back by the English tactician but by the start of the 2007 Nehru Cup, Pradeep was in the India squad as a goal scoring midfielder. India’s first goal in that competition was scored by the man from Kerala but his best moment came in the final. He recently worked as player scout for ISL side Kerala Blasters.
